Introduction

Who are we?

We are a group of Churches from many different traditions, exploring together our faith and our common calling to serve Christ and to meet the needs of the twenty first century in our own area and in the world. Membership is in accordance with the guidelines of our parent bodies, CTE (Churches together in England) and CTBI (Churches Together in Britain and Ireland)

Our Aims, (according to our Constitution) are:-

"To be a visible sign of the churches' commitment to one another in obedience to our Lord's prayer that "they may all be one...." (John 17.21) by ......

  1. Promoting theological reflection and discussion relating to the unity of the Church and its mission. (Unity)
  2. Encouraging the sharing and understanding of each others' spiritual traditions. (Worship)
  3. Fostering ways of sharing the Gospel with the community. (Evangelism)
  4. Helping churches make a practical response to society's needs, and seeking a common mind through shared decision-making, whenever possible, as part of a growth in unity. (Social Responsibility)

At the moment CTSD is looking at radical new ways of working to meet these aims. We are trying to work through smaller "task groups" to allow creative initiatives to happen and enable a wider group of people to respond.

What do we do?

We try to arrange a varied programme of activities to appeal to a wide range of people.
